I'm Jen Kohek, the artist, creator, and creative heart behind Love Chicken Studio. I've been an art educator since 1999, and if there's one thing I've learned over the years, it's that everyone has a creative side — sometimes we just need a little encouragement to let it out!

I believe art isn't about perfection. It's about playing with color, trying something new, making memories, and enjoying the creative process.

You don't need to know how to paint. You don't need fancy supplies. And you definitely don't need to stay inside the lines!

You just need to be willing to have a little fun.

The Story Behind the Love Chicken

The original Love Chicken was painted in 2007, during a lesson with my middle school art students.

I wanted to teach them something that went far beyond painting: creativity isn't about following rules, coloring inside the lines, or making everything perfect.

It's about having the courage to experiment, express yourself, embrace mistakes, and enjoy creating something that's uniquely yours.

That colorful, imperfect little chicken became a reminder of everything I believe about art.

Nearly two decades later, in 2026, I founded Love Chicken Studio, bringing that same philosophy to life through original artwork, beginner-friendly painting kits, and creative experiences designed for everyone.

The mission is still the same: inspire people to create freely, express themselves unapologetically, and discover joy in the process.

My Creative Philosophy

I use art to participate in life, not simply to represent it.

For me, creating is about so much more than making something pretty.

It's about slowing down, connecting with ourselves and others, expressing what words sometimes can't, and finding joy in the wonderfully imperfect process.

I love bright colors, whimsical designs, playful patterns, flowers, and all the little details that make life interesting.

And I want you to experience that same freedom when you create.

Because the best part of art isn't always what you end up with.
